The World Surf League is the entity that organizes annual tours of professional surfing competitions. The original body of professional surfing, the International Professional Surfers, was founded in 1976 and led by Hawaiian surfers Fred Hemmings and Randy Rarick. The event will bring together some of the best professionals in the world of surfing, from October 4 to 7 at Jacó Beach and the prize pool of the event will be a total of 40 thousand dollars.

The tour manager of North America, Brian Robbins, has seen the evolution of Costa Rican surfing and has witnessed how discipline continues to grow exponentially, particularly on the part of women, and gives surfers the opportunity to do what they like it on an international scale, starting in their countries of origin. Having this event in Costa Rica represents a great opportunity for participation for Costa Ricans better ranked and for some who do not figure in the general, without having to leave the country.

One of the most outstanding events of this edition is the support and confidence quota deposited by the ICT as official sponsor of this stop at the WSL circuit in Costa Rica. Year after year our country gets international renown for having attractive waves, spectacular beaches and unique scenarios for the practice of this sport discipline.

This event in the province of Puntarenas will be completely free for sports enthusiasts and the general public, one of the objectives being also to bring tourism to the region throughout that weekend.
