Costa Rica WeddingAn incredible display of going way past the “extra mile” for a customer by a Minnesota clothier has created plenty of Internet buzz right in the middle of the busy season for weddings as well as prenuptial parties in Costa Rica.

As reported by Jim Adams of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Wayzata clothier Judd Frost:

“put his 32-year-old daughter on a southbound plane [to Costa Rica] with the $500, tan gaberdine suit pants […] after the man left his wedding pants in the changing room and flew off to his destination wedding [near Jaco Beach].

Jessie Frost, who works for her dad’s men’s store, took off about 6 a.m. Sunday and landed about 11 hours later at the [Juan Santamaria] International Airport. After waiting an hour for her van driver and enduring a bumpy back-roads detour around a washout, she and the waylaid trousers finally reached the beachfront resort on the Pacific Ocean.”

The couple got married at Las Brisas Resort and Villas in Puntarenas. Although they are probably the only couple whose clothier would deliver such incredible customer service, they are just two of the numerous people who come to Costa Rica during the first few months of the year to get married, go on honeymoons or celebrate their last moments as bachelors or bachelorettes.

Over the last few years, hoteliers in Guanacaste and other major tourist spots across Costa Rica have been trying to attract the lucrative wedding, honeymoon and bachelor party tourism segment. To this end, many hotels have teamed up with event planners who can organize lavish ceremonies, upscale receptions, fun parties, and special honeymoon tours.

Beach and mountain resorts are very popular for these events, and people choose Costa Rica for more than just the gorgeous nature backdrop. Organizing weddings and receptions here are far more affordable than in Canada or the United States. The same goes for bachelor and bachelorette parties, which also tend to be a lot more fun and risque –particularly for women.

Coordinating these events in Costa Rica is simple with the right planner. Many arrangements can be made over the telephone or online, and it is generally better to work with an event planner recommended by the hotel or resort where everyone plans to stay.

Catholic weddings in small-town picturesque churches are also possible, but they require considerable planning and coordination that should begin more than six months before the intended date of marriage.
