As part of the project led by the Superintendency of Telecommunications, the renowned Paseo de los Turistas located in the province of Puntarenas counts on Saturday, September 28, with free wireless internet for all its visitors.
The program, which aims to provide free access to the Internet service in public spaces, is led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications, funded by the National Telecommunications Fund and administered by SUTEL.
In total, Puntarenas will have more than 15 access points located throughout the tourist area, from the Ferry exit to the sports plaza in Barranca, with a speed of 100Mbps to 300 Mbps and with a range of 300 meters round for each of them.
The program also includes the cantons of Esparza and Garabito and very soon, more cantons such as Quepos, Corredores and Coto Brus will be added, according to Telecable, a 100% Costa Rican telecommunications company responsible for implementing the project in these areas.
Other areas of Puntarenas that already have wireless internet are the Plaza de Deportes de Barranca, the El Roble Sports Center, the Central Park, the Chacarita Park and Caldera Beach.
