The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation announced the conclusion of the designs for the expansion of La Angostura, on National Route 17, which seeks to decongest the entry and exit to the city of Puntarenas.
The road will pass from two to four lanes, will have a promenade that includes sidewalks and bike paths, in addition to all road safety elements for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
The initiative responds to the commitment assumed with the Puntarenense community by the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, in July 2018, as part of his visit to the central canton of Puntarenas, to extend this section.
According to official estimates, approximately 16,000 vehicles pass through La Angostura every day, which runs from the Yatch Club to the MOPT building in Chacarita.
This work adds to important rehabilitation investments that were executed the previous year for an amount of ¢ 2.400 millions between El Roble and Barrio El Carmen.
