Costa Rica News – Thanks to the constant action of her parents, Genesis, a little girl from Golfito, Costa Rica, may be able to receive a Liver transplant from a living donor outside of Costa Rica.
For months now, Alexander Romero and Dunia Rodriguez awaited a solution to their daughters condition, which has already been declared as an urgent case by a number of foreign doctors and by the National Childrens Hospital.
The CCSS Board of Directors has already approved the allocation of funding for treatment of this case, and its looking at several medical centers and treatment options overseas.
The Childrens Hospital pioneered procedures of a living donor problem with support from the University of Kyoto, Japan.
Further analysis to determine if the child can receive part of the liver from either of her parents is expected to last from 3 to 4 weeks maximum.
