If you were to win an all expense paid six month trip around the world – where would you go?
Alex and Marko Ayling, better known as the “Vagabrothers” had to make those choices when they won My Destination’s Biggest Baddest Bucket List contest earlier this year. Competing with thousands of entries from around the world, the Vagabrothers short video entry topped all others to award them the trip of a lifetime.
My Destination is a global travel resource with local experts located on 6 continents, 47 countries, 94 locations and growing quickly. The brothers were able to choose their travel destinations from the extensive locations that My Destination has local experts on the ground.
In July, the brothers embarked on the beginning of their journey visiting British Columbia, the Mayan Riviera and Barbados. Costa Rica was added to their bucket list and became the 4th stop with the brothers landing in San Jose on August 3rd. They will chronicle their entire journey through blogs, video, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, articles and a dedicated YouTube sight that will feature highlights of each destination.
My Destination Costa Rica, local experts representing Costa Rica, are thrilled to host the brothers during their stay.
“We get to share parts of this beautiful country with Alex and Marko as well as all the others that will be following their exciting journey. They will understand the term Pura Vida by the time we drop them back at the airport onto their next destination” remarked Chuck Chastain, the local agent.
The brothers spent the night in San Jose’s premier Hotel Presidente and have already taken in the city sights, nightlife and met a few locals on their way through the busy center streets. Heading to Hermosa and Jaco to catch a few great waves, the Vagabrothers teamed up with Nick’s staff at Backyard Hotel & Bar for a memorable evening of picturesque sunsets, local banter, beer and music. As California boys, they know famous surf when they see it and are stokes to be able to hit the waves and meet the surfing community in Costa Rica.
What else is in store for the Vagabrothers while in Costa Rica?
“Off the Beaten Path” was the initial theme used to plot the travel route. With so many popular sights around the country, it’s impossible to get to and thoroughly enjoy them with limited time. The great thing about visiting here is the entire country offers adventure and culture in every direction.
Thanks to the friendly folks at Sold Car Rental, Diego will put the proper wheels under the brothers so they can take in sights and experience adventures along the OSA, Costa Ballena, Manuel Antonio, Sierpe, Matapalo and parts of the central valley during their trip.
Expect some great pics and video to hit the social media that highlight the coastline, sunsets and jungle while staying at Villas Alturas and Rancho Diandrew. Both places have killer views and loads of jungle friends visiting the grounds but will offer them distinct differences in accommodations that can be found in Costa Rica.
What’s happening under the fun category?
The Vagabrothers will be getting their first adrenaline rush while rafting the Rio Savegre with Henry Aguilera’s crew at Dominical Surf Adventures. With many adventures ahead and loads of cultural background to experience, that Pura Vida vibe has plenty of time to develop with the Vagabrothers. What better way to end their Costa Rican visit? A party in the jungle seems appropriate. Best Time Ever Presents, the team that put Best Fest 2013 music festival in the media, and Rancho Diandrew will host the party at Electric Garden, the newest live music venue in Costa Ballena. There’s an open invitation for all those in the vicinity to come meet the Vagabrothers and enjoy a magnificent evening of music with visiting Holy City Hooligans and local Freaks of Nature.
