High in the mountains that surround the agricultural canton of Naranjo, in the province of Alajuela, there’s a special type of resort that welcomes open-minded guests in Costa Rica whose sexual predilections include engaging with multiple partners, watching others perform erotic acts, and allowing their partners to do the same.
According to a couple of lengthy reports filed by Yuri Lorena Jimenez for the Sunday Magazine of national newspaper La Nacion, the High Dreams Hotel and Spa in the bucolic community of Rosario is an adult playground like no other in Costa Rica. The High Dreams property is a complex of spas and swimming pools that has been operating as a swinger’s retreat over the last three years.
This hotel is the work of a Tico attorney whose in-law uncle spent several decades in Southern California as a strip club impresario. They chose the idyllic farming community of Rosario, where choice coffee is cultivated, due to its remote location and pastoral settings conducive to a worry-free experience. Above all, the High Dreams founders wanted to avoid unpleasant characters such as petty thieves, snoops, drunks, etc.
The feature report in La Nacion, which you can access here, includes interviews of some of the guests at the High Dreams -mostly couples- and even discreet photographs. An interesting character is a Tico businessman who works in Texas but who stays one weekend at the hotel every 15 days without fail. Not surprisingly, the report is long on the details about the property: A requisite ******** pole in the center of the bar, flat screen televisions that constantly display pornography, etc.
There is no membership scheme at the High Dreams; it is operated as any other resort property in Costa Rica, with the exception of allowing guests to walk around in the buff and carry out sexual dalliances in the jacuzzi tubs near the hotel bar if they feel like it.
According to the reports in La Nacion, the management at the High Dreams has only had to chase away unwanted peeping toms on a couple of occasions. It is not clear how they can exactly tell the difference between morbid snoops and voyeurs, whom they welcome; however, the full-time manager and co-founder has reportedly lived around the sexually adventurous for quite a few decades, and thus his insight comes in handy when dealing with such situations.
