Glidden, a painting brand of PPG Industries, the world’s leading coatings company, and El Lagar stores signed a distribution agreement in Costa Rica.
“Our brand of paints and coatings is joining with another market leader, El Lagar, for distribution in Costa Rica, with the aim of further strengthening our presence in the country,” said Horacio Dobal, PPG Industries LATAM Director of Marketing and Brand.
The agreement includes the sale of the Glidden brand products in El Lagar stores. This means that the brand of PPG Industries will be found only in the 17 stores of El Lagar. These are located in Costa Rica’s Great Metropolitan Area (GAM) and the Central Pacific.
Manrique Jimenez, Commercial Director El Lagar, considers that the agreement will strengthen their relations with the largest manufacturer of paints and coatings worldwide. “This will benefit our consumers, who will have access to a world class product.”
Dobal agrees: “Any consumer who needs products to protect or embellish his or her infrastructure is a target consumer for PPG Industries and its Glidden brand. We have a solution for everybody. Partnerships of this kind help us bring these solutions to our customers, “he said.
A Greater Presence
The announcement of this agreement in Costa Rica concur with the strengthening of the presence of Glidden in Panama, where PPG Industries is planning to have opened more than 20 stores before the year ends.
According to Dobal, Glidden is increasing its leadership in both countries with an improved product that meets all the needs of the consumer: “All of our products are fabricated under the highest standards of quality and sustainability of a global industry leader, that owns a wide portfolio of products characterized by innovation, sustainability and color products.”
In 2014, PPG Industries acquired the consortium Comex for the sum of US$2,300 million. Thus, the Central American operation became part of the number one paints and coatings enterprise in the world, with presence in over 71 countries.
