Costa Rica News – A 2,300 year *** pre-Columbian village was discovered near Puerto Jimenez, on the Osa Peninsula.

It is an opportunity for the impoverished village to attract researchers and tourists. The Costa Rican National Museum is supporting the program.

The village has been covered in earth for many centuries and there is evidence of pillaging over time, experts revealed. Though there is a definitive outline of a former village from rock structures and pieces of pottery.

Francisco Corrales, National Museum archaeologist, tours the site with a security team to protect the site from further damage and pillaging.

He leads a team of archaeologists to preserve the site and prepare it for public viewing.

This discovery has much potential to bring more tourists to this remote area.

Through careful sustainable management it will be a fascinating and educational destination for years to come.
